Regarding face coverings for individuals with disabilities, as an occupational therapist, I have friends who have cerebral palsy who cannot put on the masks themselves, nor keep them on once they have someone put them on. The best I've been able to come up with so far is a ball cap with a face shield attached, which they can put on and keep on themselves, though the protection is not optimal without any other barrier.  If you need to have some folks "test" any prototypes, I can arrange that--just let me know.

Hi Ken,

Thank you for this great idea! I'd actually encourage you to submit your baseball cap solution. I wouldn't minimize the potential impact that this could have, and it would be relatively cost effective.

Thank you so much for your comment!

Thanks,

Annalyn

Hi,

I wonder if this challenge should be related only to COVID-19 or to the broader mask trend(which in this case has nothing to do with the epidemic.).

Hi Mu,

Thanks for your question! We're speaking mostly to the pandemic with this challenge question, as that is the purpose of this platform, but I think you bring up a really good point. If you want to cover that topic in your submission, that would be in line with the challenge question.

Thanks so much,

Annalyn

Hi Ken,

This is a great topic. I have been designing baseball hat clip-on face shields for the Xinampa Essential Ag Worker PPE Initiative and had not thought of applications for cerebral palsy and other differently abled individuals. There are a number of these designs in Thingiverse and I wonder what adjustments might be designed into them to best suit your user base. Thank you for submitting this idea.
